"Home to the Hills" selected for Pavilion Exhibit
Judges have selected an original acrylic painting by Marie Louise Tesch for inclusion in
Arts Night 2005 at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The event, scheduled for Friday, April 8, 2005 is a major fundraiser for the Washington Pavilion's Visual Arts Center. The painting will be on display February 26 - April 6 along with works of 60 other artists. Here’s what Marie Louise had to say about her work:

Artist’s Statement
"Home to the Hills" is part of a series of paintings, inspired by that long drive from Sioux Falls to Rapid City. Last March, as I drove across the state, I was struck by patterns across the land: furrowed fields winding toward grain elevators, grassy bluffs along the Missouri, a patchwork of melted snow and dried grass.

As I approached Rapid City, the Black Hills loomed up in a blue silhouette with snowfilled gullies below. I pulled over at the New Underwood exit, leapt from the car to snap the shot and then returned home to capture it with paint.
